Hey guys, any idea about where to file a complaint to DOE for violation.I could not find a number or email -there are nos and emails for specific person - but that I dont think will help.Birla should not do this - what happens to our kids who sare born between oct 2003 - March 2004?

CBSE News said...

Yes an action can be taken and Directorate of Education has provided a feedback form for the same! If any school voilates the rules set by the DOE, a legal action may be taken against them.

Visit the following link to see the form:
http://edustud.nic.in/mis/student/student/frmAdmissionEntryLevelClass.aspx

You can refer to the rule#26 of order issued by DOE on 24.11.2007 which states:
"Any non-compliance of the above Order shall be viewed seriously and necessary action shall be taken as per the provisions of the Delhi School Education Act & Rules 1973."

Hope this helps. Please go ahead and file feedback against the school.

1. The Heritage School (rohini) has the following regulations on its website:
Children born only between 1st April 2004 and 31st March 2005. Admission is for pre-school only. Since my son was born in Jan 04; he is not eligible for nursery also!

2. DPS Rohini has anyways said they have no seats in pre-primary; further they are scrapping Nursery

3. That way. St. Columbus seems to be very fair (only in the age criteria that is); as they have said boys born during 1 oct 2002 – 31 mar 04 will be eligible for KG (pre-primary). However, 40 marks are for Chirstians, 20 for sibling, 20 for alumni and 20 for distance.

I guess a Hindu with a first born as a boy, who stays in North Delhi, who has not worked in the defence or military, whose child is normal and doesnt have a broken home has no chance of getting into any good schools as we wont get points for anything and there are no good shcools nearby. Call this a secular, just country?

Good point sir! I am posting this to my previous list.

This is really bad time for parents and kids and agree with you completely.

Really, its becoming very trying times. Even regular neighbourhood schools are refusing to take on those born between Oct 03-March 04. Schools are violating DoE 's rules out right.Anybody in print or electronic media - atleast we could try to make some noise?

1. Ramjas School is denying forms for the 4+ yrs for pre-school and they don't have any vacancy in pre-primary class. Their age criteria is children born between 1st April 2004 to 31st March 2005. Same criteria is being followed by Laxman Public School, Birla Vidya Niketan, Tagore International School Vasant Vihar.
2. St. Mary's School are asking for Rs.20000 deposit for registration which is non-refundable and their last date for registration ends on 18th December.
I guess the children born between 1st October 2003 to 31st March 2004 are the most effected ones who were denied admission last year and will also be denied this year too. Can anyone do anything for these kids? DoE? SC? Anyone??

One good news: Birla has changed their age criteria.
Minimum Age : 3 yrs as on 31st March. 2008
Born Between - 1st October’ 03 to 31stMarch’05

Where is the info about Birla Vidya Niketan wrt Age specified - I culdn't find it on the site...

Heard that Birla is saying that u fill the form to satisfy yourself but we shall not give admissions to these kids(4+).

Overall.. Can anyone tell any person in Print / electronic Media to highlight this plight of Oct03-Mar04 born children and flouting of "No Maximum" age criteria by Schools..

CBSE News said...

I have several ideas, just need people like you and me to gather and we can take some initiative to highlight this to media and take it even further.

If possible please share your views, and we can plan a confidential meeting at some common place on week-end help change the future.

cheers!

I dont see many people coming to this site.... Needs to be made more NOTICEABLE and reachable...

Ok.This is what Amiown told me -they are the pre school for Amity International. Following HC rule, Amity will scrap its nursery - it will now be Amiown pre school. About being promoted to KG , they said , yes these kids will be promoted to KG in the big school.
But there are different versions they gave to different people - so dont know what will be their actual policy.

CBSE News said...

As I posted on our Adidiot forum earlier, Amiown told us that they CAN'T promise that Amiown kids would get admission in pre-primary Amity next year.

Another violation Of DoE noted, this time by the most 'reputed' Sardar Patel Vidyalaya. The age criteria here again is 1st April 2004 to 31st March 2005. They did not consider the 3+ yrs kids last year also. They also have asked parents not to disturb the school over the age criteria.

BlueBells is alos not accepting 4+ in nursery.. Very Very Unfair.. we tleast expected support from Schools :(

During Interaction, Schools are openly taking Interviews of children. This is in gross violation of DOE. What have we achived ??? This is now worse than previous years. What is the fun of formulating directions for school when the schools are ignoring them openly.

DPS Dwarka is also not accepting 4+ kids for their pre-school admissions. this is clearly written in the online admission form at the the school's website:

"Age Eligibility: 3+ as on 31 March 2008 (children born between 01 April 2004 and 31 March 2005) "

They have no vacancies in pre-primary. I hv a daughter who is Jan 2004 born and I am not able to find a good school to get her admitted. She could not get thru Mt. Carmel's lucky draw :(

Some schools are giving weightage according to the parental professional qualifications/profession, which according to me is contradictory to the fundamental law of education to all and equality in society. The weightage system is biased and limited to perticular group of society.
Education is for all, it shoul'nt be treated as heridity.

I filled the form for pre-primary in Modern School, Shalimar Bagh but I received a call from the school that my child is not fit for pre-primary and I should fill the form for pre-nursery and the next day of filling my form, they have asked openly for a donation of Rs. 30,000/-.

Anonymous said...

This is ridiculus. For Apeejay Shk Sarai, they have given admission to a kid getting 56 points, but my daughter has got 58 points and her name is not shortlisted. This is really bad. These schools are just playing with us, fooling us. Something needs to be done.

Dear Spyder, This requires urgent attention. In Ryans International, Vasant Kunj, they are inviting parents for interaction (basis unknown). When I called up to enquire about the interaction, I got the reply that the list will be put up on 1st Feb. and there is no interaction prior to that. Then on what basis they are calling the parents for interaction. Something fishy??? What kind of value education these schools will provide to our children???

Modern School Interview: Do you live in parental house? Do you live in a joint family? How many people live in your house? Is yours a family business? What are they trying to judge??? 100 seats and 2800 applications. we are just wasting our time!!! the seats are probably already gone...

I wonder if anybody can tell how Amrita Vidyalayam is.

Unknown said...

Spyder, please do read my e-mail. it would make a difference to many parents who are still trying to get their wards admitted.

Spyder said...

I ahve some idea about Amrita Vidyalayam and as far as I know this school has one of the best student-teacher ratio (proably 15-1).

School has very good/safe buses for junior section. Run by Mata Amrita-anadmayi Mission and known as one of the best Amrita-anadmayi Mission schools in india.

Cheers

Hi Spyder...

I missed out on the form of Amrita Vidyalam. Any Hope now....???

Spyder said...

Sorry to say but I dont think you can do much here. I know at least one more such Amrita case as theri kid WAS shortlisted at Amrita in the first list in the last week of Jan but they refused as they had some hope till then (1st Feb was due at that time)....and now, poor parents are running around as they did not make it to any list at any school and Amrita has also refused to take their case.

Only real luck can get anyone there - basically true for every school.......

Good luck!

Can u pls. advise how Indraprastha International, Dwarka is. Is it good school

Spyder said...

Here is all I know (or could dig) about this school:

Tuition Fee: Rs.2500/-
Admin Charges: 775/-
Other Annual Charges: 5925 + 3325

School is a member of UK -India Education andResearch Initiative (UKIERI) which aims to workon educational links between India andthe UK, basically partners in education.

In general, school is good and lokks like only last year they had their first class X batch sitting in exams and the agg. result was 87% - not bad.

I really have no idea of their junior section but if u judge by records at senior classes, it should be a good choice.

I know its tought to pick the best one.....all the best :)

Cheers

I have applied in 22 schools , no luck as of now.The only thing I can understand after interactions is that if you are a Hindu, with first child & that too a boy , with normal child & if you are not at high govt post/ army- Then you have no right to even think of getting your child admitted in a good school. Learning - INDIA IS NOT SECULAR, OUR GOVT IS A MUTE PUPPET IN THE HANDS OF SCHOOL MANAGEMENT (MAY BE DUE TO VESTED INTERESTS) , THE SAME APPLIES TO ALL OTHER FIELDS LIKE INCREASING FOOD PRICES OR GIVING LANS TO HOAPITALS FOR FREE TREATMENT & THEN ENDING WITH BIG HOSPITALS MAKING MILLIONS OUT OF IT.I HAVE ACTUALLY STARTED FEELING ASHAMED OF BEING AN INDIAN ?

Today in India, everything is either corrupt or a money churning machine.

Education sadly is both.

I have checked the website of Ministry of HRD (Since Education falls under its purview)

It has two links on its home page:-

1. Department of School Education & Literacy

2. Department of Higher Education

Go to Link 1.

In there there is an RTI link & other is for Public Grievance

Please use RTI and give all details that you all may have, as in information & personal experiences with regard to Admission process or the lack of it...

Lets join hands and get their corrupt ass's kicked...

Why not take a group march of parents and their kids to her office, And if News Channels are also taken along, that would surely wake the government from its deep slumber...

Lets become the change we want.
