Aadhaar Card required for nursery admission? - session 2019-20

UIDAI cautions schools not to insist on Aadhaar for admission

The word of caution from UIDAI comes at a time when admissions to nursery and entry-level classes have just begun in over 1,500 private schools in Delhi.

Aadhaar issuing body UIDAI has asserted that schools cannot make the 12-digit biometric identifier a pre-condition for student admission and warned that doing so will be against the recent order of the Supreme Court.

The word of caution from UIDAI comes at a time when admissions to nursery and entry-level classes have just begun in over 1,500 private schools in Delhi. However, there have been reports of certain schools insisting on Aadhaar as one of the documents required for admission. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has said it is aware of the reports that some schools are asking for Aadhaar cards for student admission.

How to get max points!?...Delhi Nursery Admission 2019-20

As per the Directorate of Education, Delhi Nursery Admissions for the academic year 2019-2020 schools have uploaded nursery admission criteria.

Parents would be allowed to check the point base criteria on the school website and apply on the website. Almost all the top schools in the city have listed neighborhood as the top criteria with a maximum number of points, with many schools giving 40-60 points for the proximity to the school. The second largest criteria seem to be a sibling in the school, which would help you with about 27 - 30 points.

The top criteria in the point based system include alumni, girl child, single parent. with own transport, two generation alumni apart from neighborhood and siblings. There are separate points if the child is eldest, second or third child. Also, if a child knows a 4th language and can read, write or speak, he or she would be granted additional points.

Some schools have extended their points system to include additional 5 - 10 points for children with special needs and disability. Some schools have even added points for children with disabled parents. Girl Child has also gotten an extra push with many schools awarding 5 to 10 points for the girl child.

All interested in applying for nursery admissions are informed that as per the High Court ruling, parents' habits, educational qualification and ethnicity cannot be considered as criteria.Minority institutions are allowed to add various criteria regarding parent's eating and drinking habits. Also note, all schools are required to conduct the allotment by means of a draw of lots which would be done in presence of the parents. The draw of lots is also mandated by DoE to be video graphed

🔥 Management Quota Seats - Delhi Nursery Admission (Updated: 7-Dec-18)

🔥 Most Important Questions - Delhi Nursery Admission (Updated: 7-Dec-18)

🙋Today's Question (Updated on 7th Dec 2018) -
Are schools going to block seats under management quota? If yes, how many and what is the procedure to get a seat under management quota?
👉Expert Answer -

How many seats are reserved of total Nursery seats in Delhi schools -
  • 25% seats are reserved for EWS and DG categories (and admission for those seats will be handled by DOE itself), that is for families that belong to Economically Weaker Section, Disadvantaged Group. I personally feel, that's a lot of seats - probably 15% would have been more reasonable, is n't it?
  • 20% seats can be blocked by schools under Management Quota! No further explanation needed :)
  • Well that means, roughly 55% seats would be up for grabs through standard process for general category families.
    👍Expert Tips & Tricks

How do you get yourself considered for a seat under management quota?

    • A very tricky question and answer is not as simple as it might appear
    • Yes you can hit for one, if you have direct connects with someone senior in school (Chairman, Principle, Director etc levels)
    • Yes you can get a seat under Nursery Admission management quota but that would need a few diplomatic and careful steps
    • What if an agent approaches you with offer? Well stay away from that, a lot of people are cheated every year by such means.
